'Sketching the Fens' by Anita Davies

This is my reply to Margaret Storer-Roche, sketched in ink and watercolour.

Margaret's card was so creative I decided to send her a sketch of me being creative.
Hope you like it maragaret.

I like the recurrence of blue throughout this one! Not even going to try and guess how you managed to observe and draw both hands!

Ooops! I was having trouble with sending a reply to you today...hence the "test" post above. Looks like all is well now...Soooo, here we go...

...OH, OH, OOOO-OH ANITA! I just went to the mailbox today and "TA-DAAAAA" there was your card! How totally fabulous! Such beautiful color, rich tones, and fine, delicate detail-far surpassing the beauty of the on-line post-which, I personally thought, was pretty amazing in itself. Your artwork made me feel like I was sitting by your side and looking through your eyes, and that I could actually touch your fingers as you sketched. You didn't know this about me but there is something in life that I so very much enjoy-and that is being able to watch an individual do something they LOVE to do and to watch them do it well. It brings me such joy to observe that... and that is the feeling I get when I look at your card-it captivates me and fills my heart with smiles. Thanks for creating such a personal artistic treasure.

Did you ever imagine, Anita, in your wildest of dreams, that this project would have such depth and richness and that it would be able to reach "right in" and grab the artistic soul in each of us? For me, being a "newbie" to the process of art exchanges(you are my first)I had no idea what I was in for. Let me assure you that it has been nothing but a wonderful experience. I thank you for that. I must admit though that I was "thrown for a loop" a wee bit when you posted that your card to me would be a drawing of the "fens"...the WHAT??? :) But, thanks to some really cool info and images on Google, I sorted out what in the world a "fen" was...and all was well :) I must also give a thanks, of sort, to Danny Gregory for it was through his last artistic post that I found you. What an amazing time in which we live-to have at our fingertips the wealth of the internet to enrichen our minds and to to link each of us together. I constantly marvel at how everything in life is so wonderfully interconnected. What a journey this has been for me! I have loved every minute of it!

Anita, my sincere thanks for sharing the beauty of your artistic world with ALL of us!

Thank you all so much for your kind comments.

Margaret Ann - I don't mind admiting that I felt quite emotional reading your touching and expressive comment.
You didn't know this about me either but I have always yearned for my art to touch others somewhere deep inside...more than anything I wanted to create emotion both in the art and in the viewer. I thank you whole heartedly for your feedback and the acknowledgement that I have achieved this goal in his small postcard.
It's wonderful to hear your excitement in your words.

Now keep an eye on my main blog around 22nd Feb...There may be something in my post that interests you!
Shhh, it's a secret. ;)
